The Institute was established with the purpose of providing education to the economically deprived and marginalized youth in and around Kodur(RS). It was initially founded on 23-9-1983, housed in the premises of the Government Junior College, and later relocated to its own building on 14-12-2006. It is located in the village of K. Buduguntapalli, Mandal of Kodur(RS), Annammayya District, Andhra Pradesh.
Initially the institution was affiliated to Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati, Chittoor District, Andhra Pradesh. From 2010 onwards the institution has been affiliated with Yogi Vemana University, Vemanapuram, Kadapa District, Andhra Pradesh.
Thanks to the untiring efforts of the former principals and staff, the institution was accredited by NAAC with B+ in the first cycle in 31-03-2007, and with B (CGPA 2.35) in the second cycle in 03-03-2015and B+ with CGPA 2.64 in the Third Cycle in 16-10-2023.
This institution had been granted U.G.C. recognition status under 2f on 20-11-1994 and 12b on 01-02-1992. In addition to the regular funds sanctioned by the UGC (University Grants Commission), the institution received a grant of 2 Crores under RUSA for further developmental activities. The institution offers traditional undergraduate courses such as B.A., (HEP), B.Com., (G), and B.Sc., (BZC). It also offers restructured courses such as B.Com., (CA) and B.Sc., (MSCS). and also B.A.Political Science(Honors), B.Sc.Chemistry.(Honors), B.Com. Computer Applications.(Honors) B.Sc.Computer Science(Honors) and B.Sc.Zoology(Honors)
In view of getting benefit to the discontinued students of this area, this institution is providing accommodation for Dr. B.R. Ambedhkar Open University study centre to educate them. The classes of study centre for various subjects are running in a smooth manner and every year many students get through their examinations and become qualified.
The institution also has supportive services such as NSS and RRC, and has adopted the K. Buduguntapalli village. The NSS Unit volunteers play a vital role in instilling social, cultural, economic, and environmental values in the students.
Character building is a core practice of the institution, as it believes that the crown and glory of life is character. The students' personalities are shaped by instilling human values such as tolerance, compassion, honesty, independence, and common sense.
